Series: Psy-Changeling #11
Adria, wolf changeling and resilient soldier, has made a break with the past–one as unpredictable in love as it was in war. Now comes a new territory, and a devastating new complication: Riaz, a SnowDancer lieutenant already sworn to a desperate woman who belongs to another.
For Riaz, the primal attraction he feels for Adria is a staggering betrayal. For Adria, his dangerous lone-wolf appeal is beyond sexual. It consumes her. It terrifies her. It threatens to undermine everything she has built of her new life. But fighting their wild compulsion toward one another proves a losing battle.
Their coming together is an inferno…and a melding of two wounded souls who promise each other no commitment, no ties, no bonds. Only pleasure. Too late, they realize that they have more to lose than they ever imagined. Drawn into a cataclysmic Psy war that may alter the fate of the world itself, they must make a decision that might just break them both.
With this installment, Nalini Singh manages to bring even more interesting bits and pieces to the table and I’ve enjoyed this story immensely.
The book features Riaz and Adria, both soldiers for the wolf pack SnowDancer, but we are also treated with many scenes from other past main characters such as Hawke, Sienna, Mercy, Riley and many others. I knew this book was coming out on May 29, so I pre-ordered it for my Kindle and woke up early to start reading, and boy, was I not sorry.
I just can’t praise this series enough. All the characters are so interesting and so well thought that we are constantly surprised and seduced by every single one of them. Unfortunately though, it’s obvious that Nalini Singh has started tying up loose end and the series is quickly heading for an explosive ending. Do I want the series to end? Absolutely not. But there may be hope that she will start another series placed in the same world, but focussing on other packs. That would certainly be interesting to see.
Coming back to the matter at hand, this book was a bit different than the others, because almost half of it featured Hawke and Sienna. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining. Anyway, it was fun to see how Riaz and Adria, who at the beginning couldn’t stand each other, fell in love, despite all the impediments. There are some mysterious scenes featuring Kaleb and I really, really need to know what’s going on there.
The cliffhanger of an ending shocked me, to be honest, but I have hope that it will be resolved in the next books, and if not, then I’m sure that this little detail won’t stand in the way of Riaz and Adria’s love. I really can’t wait for the next book!
