Closing Blog Temporarly

Hey everybody! With regret, I have to announce that I will not be doing any new posts in the coming weeks. The reason for this break is my novel. I want to take time to solely concentrate on my writing these coming months so that I can finally finish my first novel.

It will be a tough journey, but it needs to be done. In my heart, I’ve always been a writer and I’ve put myself on second place for long enough. This is my time and my stories will be put into writing. I can’t wait to see what comes out of this.

Much love,

Iulia Lesley x

REVIEW: “Tangle of Need” by Nalini Singh (Psy-Changeling #11)

Hardcover: 422 pages

Publisher: Berkley

Release Date: May 29, 2012

Series: Psy-Changeling #11

Adria, wolf changeling and resilient soldier, has made a break with the past–one as unpredictable in love as it was in war. Now comes a new territory, and a devastating new complication: Riaz, a SnowDancer lieutenant already sworn to a desperate woman who belongs to another.

For Riaz, the primal attraction he feels for Adria is a staggering betrayal. For Adria, his dangerous lone-wolf appeal is beyond sexual. It consumes her. It terrifies her. It threatens to undermine everything she has built of her new life. But fighting their wild compulsion toward one another proves a losing battle.

Their coming together is an inferno…and a melding of two wounded souls who promise each other no commitment, no ties, no bonds. Only pleasure. Too late, they realize that they have more to lose than they ever imagined. Drawn into a cataclysmic Psy war that may alter the fate of the world itself, they must make a decision that might just break them both.

My thoughts

With this installment, Nalini Singh manages to bring even more interesting bits and pieces to the table and I’ve enjoyed this story immensely.

The book features Riaz and Adria, both soldiers for the wolf pack SnowDancer, but we are also treated with many scenes from other past main characters such as Hawke, Sienna, Mercy, Riley and many others. I knew this book was coming out on May 29, so I pre-ordered it for my Kindle and woke up early to start reading, and boy, was I not sorry.

The Christian Grey Addiction…And The Benefits

Image

As all of you know, I’ve started reading the “Fifty Shades” trilogy and today I finished the first book. My reaction: Oh boy…

Addiction may not be a strong enough word to describe how hooked I am to this story, hence the lack of updates on my blog. But there’s also a positive aspect to consider. All these juicy scenes have fired up my imagination and I’ve invested it all into my novel.

I am tempted to post the prologue on here, so my question is this: Would you read it and give me an honest feedback?

Well, anyways, returning to the subject at hand, I’ve posted, as you can well see, a picture of what I imagine Christian Grey looks like. For those of you who don’t know who the guy in the picture above is, you can watch him play a delicious reformed art thief in the TV series White Collar. His name: Matthew Bomer. Now be prepared if you google image him, the pictures are not suited for the fainthearted.

I also find that these books distract me from my bad eating habits. Hmmm…could it be that I have found the secret? I tend to snack on chocolate whenever I’m bored, which I’m sure all of you go through one moment or the other, but since I can’t take my eyes off my Kindle, I hardly think about chocolate. I’m shedding the pounds as I write this. Cool, right?

So thank you Christian Grey and thank you E L James for introducing him into our lives.

“Angel’s Blood” by Nalini Singh (Guild Hunter #1) – Review

Paperback: 339 pages

Publisher: Gollancz

Release Date: March 3, 2009

Series: Guild Hunter

“Vampire hunter Elena Deveraux knows she is the best- but she does not know if even she is good enough for this job. Hired by the dangerously beautiful archangel Raphael, a being so lethal that no mortal wants his attention, Elena knows failure is not an option—even if the task is impossible.

Because this time, it’s not a wayward vamp she has to track. It’s an archangel gone bad.

The job will put Elena in the midst of a killing spree like no other—and pull her to the razor’s edge of passion. Even if the hunt does not destroy her, succumbing to Raphael’s seductive touch just might. For when archangels play, mortals break.”

My thoughts

I’ve been a big fan of Nalini Singh ever since reading the Psy-Changeling series, so naturally, I was expecting a good book when I first bought “Angel’s Blood”, but never did I expect it to be this good.

The new spin on a world controlled by archangels, angels and vampires is completely fascinating. In this series, vampires are created by archangels, imagine that! I just loved every page, it was that good. I was constantly thinking about the world and its characters, living among them. It’s impossible to avoid falling in love with Raphael and his team of deadly warriors.

What about mere old mortal Elena Devereaux? She’s human so she’s no match for vampires or angel, much less for an archangel, right? Hell no! You see, Elena is not just a human, she is a mercenary, a hunterborn who can track vampires, new and old. So what happens when she gets a job that’s way above anything she’s ever done? She jumps right in, of course.

She is so stubborn and a smart-ass extraordinaire, that you’ll find yourself laughing at her quippy lines. You’ll simply love the way she goes about life. She doesn’t need someone protecting her, she’s very much capable of guarding her back and of handling herself in dire situation. Smart, tough and snarky, our warrior has to survive being around the sexy archangel Raphael.

He can be dazzling, annoying, charming or cruel. You simply don’t know which side of him you’ll see and the fact that Elena falls in love with him despite his flaws makes this story so much more beautiful.

The sex in this series is also really good. Nalini Singh knows her stuff! I love the fact that angels are sexual in this novel. It seemed kind of awkward to begin with because of the whole religious thing surrounding the angel myth, but the characters make so much sense. I just love every one of them.

There are currently four books in this series, with the fifth coming out this September, “Archangel’s Storm”, featuring the sexy and mysterious spy master, Jason. Swoooooonnn! So go grab the first book and read the series before September! Did I tell you how yummy the cover is? No? Well have a look-see below:

“Visions of Heat” by Nalini Singh (Psy-Changeling #2) – Review

Paperback: 352 pages

Publisher: Gollancz

Release Date: March 6, 2007

Series: Psy-Changeling

Hailed as a major new talent in paranormal romance, Nalini Singh takes us deeper into the world of the Psy and the changelings in her latest extraordinary novel, where a gifted woman sees passion in her future – a passion that is absolutely forbidden by her kind…

Used to cold silence, Faith NightStar is suddenly being tormented by dark visions of blood and murder. A bad sign for anyone, but worse for Faith, an F-Psy with the highly sought after ability to predict the future. Then the visions show her something even more dangerous – aching need… exquisite pleasure. But so powerful is her sight, so fragile the state of her mind, that the very emotions she yearns to embrace could be the end of her.

Changeling Vaughn D’Angelo can take either man or jaguar form, but it is his animal side that is overwhelmingly drawn to Faith. The jaguar’s instinct is to claim this woman it finds so utterly fascinating, and the man has no argument. But while Vaughn craves sensation and hungers to pleasure Faith in every way, desire is a danger that could snap the last threads of her sanity. And there are Psy who need Faith’s sight for their own purposes. They must keep her silenced – and keep her from Vaughn..”

My Thoughts

“Visions of Heat” is the second book in the Psy-Changeling series by Nalini Singh and a worthy sequel to “Slave to Sensation”. Like with the first book, I was completely blown away. I didn’t expect the sequel to be as good as the first book in the series, but boy was I wrong. I simply did not want it to end.

I really liked Faith, maybe not as much as Sascha, but she was still amazing. Her strength and determination to feel something beyond what she thought was possible impressed the hell out of me. I don’t know many people able to do that. And Vaughn…he was so damn hot! I love my men wild, and he certainly delivered on his part. All possessive, growly and protective. The jaguar in him let loose.

As for the heat, well, let’s just say that this one was way off the scales, possibly even better than the first one. I loved Lucas & Sascha, but Faith and Vaughn were simply magnetic. They were constantly drawn to each other, all logical thought gone. It was mesmerizing to follow. And as for his imagination…well, I strongly suggest you sit down comfortably in your bed while reading this. I sometimes read books in the train while I’m on my way to the university, and as I was reading this, I was actually blushing and laughing. I guess the people on the train thought I was a weirdo, but I so did not care. Their loss, haha!

Aside from the romance and hot sex scenes, the plot was incredibly well structured. I loved the fact that Nalini Singh went deeper into the Psy mentality and issues. The Silence protocol and the NetMind were actually quite fascinating and I found myself wishing I’d thought of these things first.

I absolutely love Nalini Singh’s books. I’m truly addicted. In total there are ten books in this series, with the eleventh coming out in May. I. Cannot. Wait!

So what are you waiting for? Go grab the yourself the first book in the series and then read on, because it’s something truly worth your time.

“Pride Mates” by Jennifer Ashley (Shifters Unbound #1) – Review

Paperback: 304 pages

Publisher: Leisure Books

Release Date: January 26, 2010

Series: Shifters Unbound

CALL OF THE WILD

To most, they are animals even when in human form. They are to be collared and kept on the fringes of society, scorned because they are feared, hated for their extraordinary powers. And attorney Kim Fraser has to go right into the heart of their lair.

It’s her job to defend those in need. But there s absolutely nothing defenseless about Liam Morrissey. His soft Irish lilt and feline grace can’t disguise his sheer strength. Nor can the silver chain at his throat, designed to control the aggression of his kind, completely reassure her that this man has been tamed.

Yet when a feral shifter begins to stalk them both, Liam is the only one she trusts with her life. She’ll let him claim her for her protection, for her pride, and for a passion that knows no bounds.”

My thoughts

Just look at that cover! Damn, I could stare at it for ages. I don’t know about you, but I love Celtic lore and the medallion pictured on the cover is called a Celtic knot. I have a very similar one, so when I saw this book, I knew I had to buy it. And besides it’s got everything I love in it: shapeshifters, faeries, love, sex, and vulnerable characters.

With just the right amount of humor, Jennifer Ashley managed to picture just my kind of man. Liam Morrissey is also Irish, which is always a plus for me! I love me some sexy Irish men.

I don’t need to tell you how good this book is. It just is! I’m a massive Shifters fan and can’t wait to get my hands on the next books in the series. There are lots of hot sex scenes in this book, but it also speaks of family and love. Liam is such a protector and a sweet man that I found myself wishing I find somebody just like him.

The story world is also fairly interesting. I hate the fact that the shapeshifters are chained and locked in a society far away from humans. It seems so unfair, but at least they don’t feel the need to be among humans, so it’s all good. Shifters are really loving to each other, even to non-family members. The whole atmosphere in their “Shifter City” is filled with love and joy.

The book starts with attorney Kim Fraser, who is trying to defend a shifter in a murder case. Everybody thinks she is insane, but she is convinced the shifter is innocent. The only problem is that nobody will talk to her. Soooo she goes to see Liam Morrissey. He is the one who opens up the doors for her, even though he doesn’t believe she can do anything about the case. They are instantly attracted to each other and I find it sweet that he tries to take care of her even without knowing what kind of person she is. For example, he gives her a foot massage after she walked for a long time in high heels. And that was the first day they met! Ludicrous, right?

Anyways, I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did. I think I’m going to read it again soon, cause I just miss all the characters! A girl can dream, right?

Rating: ★★★★★ – 5 stars!
