The Christian Grey Addiction…And The Benefits

Image

As all of you know, I’ve started reading the “Fifty Shades” trilogy and today I finished the first book. My reaction: Oh boy…

Addiction may not be a strong enough word to describe how hooked I am to this story, hence the lack of updates on my blog. But there’s also a positive aspect to consider. All these juicy scenes have fired up my imagination and I’ve invested it all into my novel.

I am tempted to post the prologue on here, so my question is this: Would you read it and give me an honest feedback?

Well, anyways, returning to the subject at hand, I’ve posted, as you can well see, a picture of what I imagine Christian Grey looks like. For those of you who don’t know who the guy in the picture above is, you can watch him play a delicious reformed art thief in the TV series White Collar. His name: Matthew Bomer. Now be prepared if you google image him, the pictures are not suited for the fainthearted.

I also find that these books distract me from my bad eating habits. Hmmm…could it be that I have found the secret? I tend to snack on chocolate whenever I’m bored, which I’m sure all of you go through one moment or the other, but since I can’t take my eyes off my Kindle, I hardly think about chocolate. I’m shedding the pounds as I write this. Cool, right?

So thank you Christian Grey and thank you E L James for introducing him into our lives.

Laters, baby. x

Jumping On The “Fifty Shades” Train

I’ve heard so many things about this series, that I just had to grab myself a copy of the first book. I’ve only read the first two chapters till now, but it already has me giggling with every new line. The writing is not as good as I expected it, but it makes up with the story. I have to warn you though, the sexual content is pretty high, so if you’re under 18, keep your hands and eyes away from this.

Well, I’ll keep on reading cause I’m really interested to see how this story develops, but my mum, who’s started reading the series a few days ago, says it’s very entertaining. Hmmm. Anyways here’s the story description:

When literature student Anastasia Steele goes to interview young entrepreneur Christian Grey, she encounters a man who is beautiful, brilliant, and intimidating. The unworldly, innocent Ana is startled to realize she wants this man and, despite his enigmatic reserve, finds she is desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana’s quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her, too—but on his own terms.

Shocked yet thrilled by Grey’s singular erotic tastes, Ana hesitates. For all the trappings of success—his multinational businesses, his vast wealth, his loving family—Grey is a man tormented by demons and consumed by the need to control. When the couple embarks on a daring, passionately physical affair, Ana discovers Christian Grey’s secrets and explores her own dark desires.

Erotic, amusing, and deeply moving, the Fifty Shades Trilogy is a tale that will obsess you, possess you, and stay with you forever.

Sounds yummy, right? Well I’m off to read some more and I’ll update you along the way.

My perfect evening…

Hmmm…I don’t know about you, but after a long day at uni or studying, I like to do something every evening to disconnect myself from all the daily stress. It helps me sleep better at night and allows me to take care of myself.

One such typical evening for me always involves some reading. It’s my way to imagine myself in a world far away from mine, where I can leave all my troubles behind. Two hours of that accompanied by a cup of hot chocolate with tiny bits of marshmallows in it is pure heaven!

Haven’t tasted hot chocolate with marshmallows yet? You don’t know what you’re missing. I recently discovered it at a store called Karstadt, here in Germany, where you can buy it for 6 euros. You can also get it on Amazon: Swiss Miss Hot Cocoa Mix, Milk Chocolate with Marshmallows – loooove it!

But that’s not all! While doing all this, I love wearing some really funky PJs. Mine are from Hunkemöller and you can buy them for 20 euros from their website: Hunkemöller PJs – I’m not sure if they deliver outside of Germany, but they’re really cool and pleasant to wear. For international readers, there’s always H&M, which I also love. Here’s a cool PJ for $12.95. I recommend Victoria’s Secret if you’re looking for something a little more sexy: VS Logo Lace Halter Babydoll, which is a bit more expensive at $29.50.

So how do you like to spend your evenings? Any tips?

New Look, New Ideas

This blog has been on hiatus for quite some time now, and today I had a brilliant idea on how to make this page more interesting.I know that posting only book reviews can be boring, so I’ve decided to make posts on fashion, fitness and whatever else crosses my mind. With a new theme and look, I’ll hopefully find lots of new subjects to write about.

It will be more interesting, I think, and you’ll get to know me better that way too. Anyways here is my favorite song of the moment. Enjoy! x

More Writing Updates

I’ve been writing and creating like mad these last few days. I’m up till 3 a.m and just keep on writing till my eyelids decide they can’t take it any longer. I’ve reached page 70 in my novel and I can’t believe I’ve got another 30 till I reach 100. How incredible is that!

I just love this book I’m writing now. Although at time the story sounds wrong, when I keep on writing I find that everything is the way it should be. I know some writers like to plan ahead, know what the next scene is, but I find that doesn’t really work for me. For this novel, I’m forcing myself not think about it when I’m not writing. I just create everything on the spot. Spontaneously.

I haven’t come up with a title yet as nothing seems too good for it. I still have time though. It will come to me when the time is right. At the moment, I’m trying to master the Texas accent for one of my characters. This is so much fun, I have to tell you. Anyways, I hope the ideas will keep on coming and that I’ll be able to finally finish my first book.

I look forward to meticulous editing the manuscript. At least I’ll know I finished something.

Sorry for the lack of updates and reviews.

My Top 20 New Book Releases 2012 (Part 2)

Sorry it took so long to post part two, but here it is, as promised! Part three will be posted hopefully soon. There are so many books I want to read, lol.

1. The Immortal Rules (Blood of Eden #1) – Julie Kagawa

I’ve loved her Iron Fey series, so I’m really looking forward to getting my hands on this one, which comes out April 24th. Just have a look at the story description:

IN A FUTURE WORLD, VAMPIRES REIGN. HUMANS ARE BLOOD CATTLE. AND ONE GIRL WILL SEARCH FOR THE KEY TO SAVE HUMANITY.

Allison Sekemoto survives in the Fringe, the outermost circle of a vampire city. By day, she and her crew scavenge for food. By night, any one of them could be eaten.
Some days, all that drives Allie is her hatred of them. The vampires who keep humans as blood cattle. Until the night Allie herself is attacked—and given the ultimate choice. Die… or become one of the monsters.
Faced with her own mortality, Allie becomes what she despises most. To survive, she must learn the rules of being immortal, including the most important: go long enough without human blood, and you will go mad.
Then Allie is forced to flee into the unknown, outside her city walls. There she joins a ragged band of humans who are seeking a legend—a possible cure to the disease that killed off most of humankind and created the rabids, the mindless creatures who threaten humans and vampires alike. But it isn’t easy to pass for human. Especially not around Zeke, who might see past the monster inside her. And Allie soon must decide what—and who—is worth dying for.

2. Shadow of Night (All Souls #2) – Deborah Harkness

I. CANNOT.WAIT.FOR.THIS.BOOK. I mean, for real. I loooooooooooved A Discovery of Witches, it’s probably my all-time favorite novel, which is hard to achieve considering how many good books there are out there! July 10th, 2012, is much too far away in my book!

“Together we lifted our feet and stepped into the unknown”—the thrilling sequel to the New York Times bestseller A Discovery of Witches

Deborah Harkness exploded onto the literary scene with her debut novel, A Discovery of Witches, Book One of the magical All Souls Trilogy and an international publishing phenomenon. The novel introduced Diana Bishop, Oxford scholar and reluctant witch, and the handsome geneticist and vampire Matthew Clairmont; together they found themselves at the center of a supernatural battle over an enchanted manuscript known as Ashmole 782.
Now, picking up from A Discovery of Witches’ cliffhanger ending, Shadow of Night plunges Diana and Matthew into Elizabethan London, a world of spies, subterfuge, and a coterie of Matthew’s old friends, the mysterious School of Night that includes Christopher Marlowe and Walter Raleigh. Here, Diana must locate a witch to tutor her in magic, Matthew is forced to confront a past he thought he had put to rest, and the mystery of Ashmole 782 deepens.
Deborah Harkness has crafted a gripping journey through a world of alchemy, time travel, and magical discoveries, delivering one of the most hotly anticipated novels of the season .

3. Destined (Wings #4) – Aprilynne Pike

I’ve been following this series from the start, and since this is the last book in the series, I’m sad to see it go, but all good things must come to an end. The book comes out May 1st, 2012.

Laurel now knows the truth: Yuki is a rare Winter faerie, the most powerful—and deadly—of all, and she is working with Klea to conquer and destroy Avalon. With Tamani, David, and Chelsea by her side, Laurel prepares for a fight she never thought she would have to face. Filled with heart-pounding action, sweeping romance, and higher stakes at every turn, Destined is the series conclusion that readers have been clamoring for—with a twist that will leave them breathless.

Tamani looked at her gravely, and reached up to touch her hair behind her ear. He hesitated for an instant, then his hands found the sides of her face, pulling her to him. He didn’t kiss her, just held her face to his, their foreheads resting together, their noses almost touching.

She hated how much it felt like good-bye.

4. The Crown of Embers (Fire and Thorns #2) – Rae Carson
I had the pleasure to receive an ARC of the first book in this series, and it totally blew me away. The story is so different, you’ll all going to love it. Expected publication is sometime this year. This is the sequel to the Girl of Fire and Thorns:

Elisa is the hero of her country. She led her people to victory against a terrifying enemy, and now she is their queen. But she is only seventeen years old. Her rivals may have simply retreated, choosing stealth over battle. And no one within her court trusts her-except Hector, the commander of the royal guard, and her companions. As the country begins to crumble beneath her and her enemies emerge from the shadows, Elisa will take another journey. With a one-eyed warrior, a loyal friend, an enemy defector, and the man she is falling in love with, Elisa crosses the ocean in search of the perilous, uncharted, and mythical source of the Godstone’s power. That is not all she finds.

5. Lover Reborn (Black Dagger Brotherhood #10) – J.R. Ward

Last, but not least, this series is one of the best there is out there. I’m currently reading the ninth book in the line, and since this one comes out March 27, I’m right where I’m supposed to be. Oh, and it also happens to feature my favorite brother. Enjoy!

In the darkest corners of the night in Caldwell, New York, a conflict like no other rages. The city is home to a band of brothers born to defend their race: the warrior vampires of the Black Dagger Brotherhood.
Now back in the Brotherhood – and unrecognisable as the vampire leader he once was – Tohrment is physically emaciated and heartbroken beyond despair. When he begins to see his beloved in his dreams – trapped in a cold, isolating netherworld – Tohr turns to a self-serving fallen angel in hopes of saving the one he has lost. When he’s told he must learn to love another to free his former mate, Tohr knows they are all doomed . . .
Except then a female with a shadowed history begins to get through to him. Against the backdrop of the raging war with the lessers, and with a new clan of vampires vying for the Blind King’s throne, Tohr struggles between the buried past, and a very hot, passion-filled future . . . but can his heart let go and set all of them free

Personal Updates!

I’m sorry I haven’t been around these last few days and I’m aware I’m behind with my reading and blogging, but the most extraordinary thing has happened to me a few days ago! This female character appeared to me right before my eyes, making it impossible for me to ignore her, and demanded that her story be written. If you’re a writer you’ll know what I’m talking about.

I’ve been writing like mad, letting myself go without any kind of forward planning. I’m writing it all by ear. And what do you know? It works! In three days I’ve managed to write more than I already had for my first novel, the one I’ve been working on for months. I never expected this to happen to me, and I’m not going to talk much about it yet before I see where it goes.

I’m having so much fun writing this new novel, that I stay up at night and just keep on writing till I can’t go on anymore.

I’ll try  to make a post on here later today, but I make no promises. The new novel takes up most of my time, and since its practically writing itself, I’m not letting it go. Have to go back now before my ideas go away! Later 😉
