HER BEAUTY IS A WEAPON – AND FIRE IS GOING TO USE IT.
“Fire’s exceptional beauty gives her influence and power. People who are susceptible to it will do anything for her attention, and for her affection.
But beauty is only skin deep, and beneath it Fire has a human appreciation of right and wrong. Aware of her ability to influence others, and afraid of it, she lives in a corner of the world away from people – not only to protect them but also to protect herself from their attention, their distrust, and even their hatred.
Yet Fire is not the only danger to the Dells. If she wants to protect her home, if she wants a chance to undo the wrongs of the past, she must face her fears, her abilities, and a royal court full of powerful people with reason to distrust her.”
Fire is a powerful tale of intrigue, death-defying adventure, monsters and unexpected love.
“This wonderful novel is difficult to put down…fast paced plot, believable characters, battles, romance and a main character who ties it all together beautifully” – Waterstones Books Quarterly
“A WOW of a book. I HAD to know how it ended!” – Tamora Pierce
“I fell in love with Fire at first sight. One of my favourite reads of the year. Absolutely recommended to all” – The Book Smugglers
“Cashore will slake the thirst of Twilight fans” – Publishers Weekly
I have to say that I absolutely agree with the short reviews from above. There are no words to describe this book as it should be described. It is just WOW, WOW, WOW. I bought it, not knowing that this was the second book in the series, but it did not matter. I don’t think they are that much related to each other, because this book certainly stood its ground on its own. As I read the first few chapters of it, I found myself getting a sense of deja vu. It sort of gave me the feeling that I was reading ‘Lord of the Rings’ at first, but this is so much better.
This book breaks tradition by inventing a new race, a new supernatural creature. You won’t find vampires, demons, angels, witches or other supernatural creatures in here. This is a story of monsters, beautiful monsters, who mesmerize you with their beauty.
Cashore’s writing had me hypnotized from the very beginning – she’s extremely talented. I found myself often turning back to a sequence I loved and I felt the need to read it again, and again, and again.
The unexpected love story totally blew me away and I still find myself craving the man in this book. I read this book months ago and I still can’t let go of the story. It sticks with you and won’t let go. Personally, I don’t want to let go either.
I love the fact that there is no confusion about Fire’s emotions. She knows what she wants and who she wants. She is determined, loyal, and probably more human than the characters portrayed in this book, even though she is a monster herself.
Just writing this review makes me want to go back and devour this book over and over again. It’s just that good! My only advice to you is: BUY IT! Why are you still here reading this review? Just kidding, you don’t have to go right now, I love having people over at my blog. But seriously, whenever you have the time, you have to buy this book. It’s brilliant!
Rating: ❤❤❤❤❤ – 5 hearts! (shame I can’t give it more hearts, because it’s just that good!)
